I want to use AutoCAD with 1024x768, and use AutoShade with 640x480x256. What happens is that when I exit CAD to go to Shade, the batch file I have made will not load in the shade driver because it thinks that the driver for CAD is the one I want and says "already loaded". I then have to use shade in 1024x768x16 and it sucks. I've tried changing the interrupts for the drivers and that doesn't work. I do not know how to unload the driver from memory so I can get the other one in. The manual does not say how to do this. As things stand now, I have to reboot, get the driver out of there, and THEN call the batch file. Am I stuck with this kludgy workaround? Also, I have a Seagate ST296N 80 meg SCSI drive. The controller for it is a Western Digital something-or-other with "an 8-bit channel" according to my dealer. Now the COREtest (1986 version, is there a more recent one?) says about 30 ms. access and aprox 2600 Kb/sec transfer rate. Now my dealer says that even though it is about 28-30 ms. access, the high speed transfer makes the access effectively 17-20 ms. I find this hard to believe since, the ms. involved in a physical movement are literally thousands of times slower than shuffling data along an electronic channel. So am I being fed a line of bullshit, here or what? Does anyone know what SCSI controllers Western Digital makes and if they are any good? It seems like I got a low-end WD controller. If anyone has more information on the WD controllers available, I'd like to hear from you. I was told that there are about 10 controllers available that would work for this drive. Is the Adaptec the best one?
