Unless you need the higher protection to catch a program that is trashing
your system, you should keep the protection level at 0, since higher
levels cause a considerable slowdown (all that checking can really eat
up CPU cycles).  Locations 0000:04?? are indeed BIOS data areas, including
video mode info.
