A review of the of the Laserjet III in the March 19, 1990 InfoWorld
(page 76) makes the following statements:

"an Epson FX/IBM Proprinter emulation in cartridge form will also
be available soon."
[the previous sentence refers to a Postscript cartridge that will
be available in April]

and

"your existing cartridges for the other Laserjets are compatible with
the Laserjet III"

I don't know if this means you can put the Laserjet III Epson cartridge
in a Laserjet II, or if it needs some features of the Laserjet III.

Maybe someone from HP Cupertino can comment on this?
