My version of 2.21 does this too. I haven't decided whether or not to
register yet (and it'll take longer for me to decide now that I have 3.0).
The beeps are probably an inducement to register.

On a related tack, is there a way to disable the PC speaker from DOS.
(If not, I'll have to wire a potentiometer into the speaker circuit,
but a software methods would be much better.
