Summary: Anybody know one???? I don't necessarily want to capture an image in 24-bits, but just 8-bits with the QD init running would be cool. (What I'm after is using 32bit QD's dither-to-8-bit features to dither a 24-bit image down to 8-bit, then capture it, and make a startup screen.... The ones I've tried (SnapShot and ColorImage) both just give me a white PICT. This is actually quite interesting, considering that ColorFinder seems to have the same problem (the CF icons disappear to white when in 32-bit mode). Is this related? --Mike
