Uh, sacrilege, but since Apple doesn't cater for your needs and you _really_ need something "lightweight", how about a nice cheap "PC clone" portable with 3.5" diskette drive? If you have a high-density diskette drive on your Mac, you can read the PC disks using Apple File Exchange. Otherwise, you'll need a serial cable and file transfer software.
