If it had worked I wouldn't be posting this message. In the past I have read tapes from Sun-4's using the command line: dd if=/dev/tape conv=swab | tar xvf - I know that the Sparc's have a 150 meg drive, but so is the SGI drive, so whats the problem? I have tried both straight tar and byte swapping. -----Darrell R.
