I am going to write a new version of fancyheadings.sty. I plan to add a few
parameters, defaulting to the current behaviour. E.g. the vertical space
next to the rule in the header/footer and the widths of the boxes
containing the parts of the headers/footers. I want to keep the thing
upwardly compatible and simple to use.

I will also write new documentation, in LaTeX, with examples and caveats.
