Rebooting clears the problem. This never happened before I installed the tape drive. 2) When I try to tar some files to the tape, it goes back and forth, like it is trying to write a block and then rewinds, and gets nothing out. If I remove the tape and let tar time out with a tape write error, re-insert the tape, let it rewind, and start tar again, it works fine. These are not critical problems but they are annoying. Anyone else out there experiencing this? Thanks, John -- John R. Meyer Domain: meyer@mimsy.umd.edu 10208-C Ashbrooke Ct.
