ELI (the Embedded Lisp Interpreter) is a part of the Andrew distribution, which in turn is a part of X11r4. Previous versions of ELI have been vastly too memory-inefficient to be generally useful. However, a recent change to ELI causes the Lisp interpreter to use orders of magnitude less memory. For example, a recent test program caused the *old* ELI to grow to over 5 Megabytes, while the same test caused the *new* ELI to grow only to 400 Kilobytes! This fix to ELI will be available in Patch 5 of the Andrew distribution, coming soon to a newsgroup near you. ______________ _____________________________ Bob Glickstein | Internet: bobg@andrew.cmu.edu Information Technology Center | Bitnet: bobg%andrew@cmuccvma.bitnet Carnegie Mellon University | UUCP: ...!harvard!andrew.cmu.edu!bobg Pittsburgh, PA 15213-3890 | (412) 268-6743 | Sinners can repent, but stupid is forever
