X11R4 tape 1 compile/build -- 3.3 hours ( 7:54 to 11:13)

equipment  sun 4/370  56MB memory 
    327 mb scsi disk for system/swap
    327 mb scsi disk for X11 build
   
On a later build I knocked off 10 minutes by not displaying to a window
the output of build. Managing a large text window eats up surprising
cpu time.
