Yeah, I ran into this too. So I went to one of B. Dalton Bookstore's Software ETC. and picked up a PC/XT modem cable that works great with my 2000 and my Avatex 1200. Here in Okie-Homer the cable was kind of expensive at 21 bucks, but for the money I got a six foot long cable in a nice shade of insulated grey. :-)
