Regarding you monitor... I have the same monitor (Thomson Ultrysync = Mits Diamond Scan). And I do use it to run my Amiga, IBM/EGA, and VCR/video. There should be 3 switches on the back of your monitor, two on the right, one on the left. One of the switches on the right should be marked: Video -- TTL -- Analog With that switch, you can run all three types of inputs. BTW, I have the redmond cable myself, but there is an article in Amazing Computing on how to make a cable for your/my monitor. Also, if you are familiar with TTL transistors, it is also quit trivial to make a cable like the ones supplied by redmond.
