Well, I just traded in my 1000 for a 2000HD but if you can get a student discount I think it's great. There is a place in Arlington Texas called Budget Computers. They will buy a stock Amiga with 512k for about $350 which you could then apply to the student purchase. They will also buy 1000 specific peripherals with your 1000. They will buy 2MB StarBoard IIs for about $225. Note that these are quotes I got over the phone so your mileage may vary. Their phone number is (817) 792-3508.
