The answer to that is yes. I have an Apple //e system with a pair of 800K Mac drives, and the system next to me is another //e with a 400K drive. I'm using the Universal Drive Controller from Laser Computer. The card works perfectly with any ProDOS software I have tried, as well as Pascal 1.3. The UDC will support two drives either Disk ][ or Mac (mixing is allowed), and the newer versions support the daisy chain drives as well. As far as I know, the only Apple // drives not supported are the Unidisk drives. I purchased my first UDC about a year ago, and paid $100 canadian for it. That should translate to about $50 US or thereabouts.
