Message-ID: <1990Mar28.164432.3394@ccu.umanitoba.ca> Date: 28 Mar 90 16:44:32 GMT Organization: University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada Lines: 32 My wife plays bluegrass and traditional fiddle, and is looking for a program that would allow her to enter music in standard musical notation, play it back on the monitor speaker for auditory verification, and then print out the finished score. Does anyone know of such a critter? Provisos: 1. It has to run in monochrome. 2. Semi-intelligent entry (keyboard and/or mouse) would be nice, but not critical. I.e., it would be nice if the software itself kept track of measures and the like. 3. Easy editing is a must. 4. Quality of the sound output is unimportant, since the playback feature would only be used to check that harmonies are right and so on. 5. Ability to edit printer drivers would be a big plus, though again not crucial, since we have access to various dot-matrix printers as well as a laserjet. I haven't paid much attention to the musical side of the ST, so I don't have a clue what's available. I think that something simple like Music Studio is what she wants. Does it run in monochrome? Will it print the final score? What else is available? Any and all facts/opinions concerning availablity, price, quality, ease of use, etc. will be most appreciated. And of course I'll summarize if I get any interesting replies. BBB -- Bob Bright Dept. of Philosophy University of Manitoba Winnipeg, Man R3T 2N2 (204) 474-9680
