ICE.10 is basically a terminal emulation package with limited file- transfer and NFS-like functions. It can run over serial lines (direct or dialup) at up to (they claim) 19,200 bps. Software is required on both the DOS and UNIX ends. The UNIX "host" then becomes a sort of server for the DOS machine, which can transfer files and can manipulate files on the server using DOS-like commands. There's also a menu-type, or point-and-shoot interface. Also, you can simply use it as a terminal emulator to access the UNIX host directly. I don't have any connection to ICE.10 or to the manufacturers and neither I nor the Social Security Adminstration express any views pro or con on ICE.10. -- UUCP ...!{rutgers|ames|uunet}!mimsy!woodb!tkevans Internet tkevans%woodb@mimsy.umd.edu *** Opinions Expressed Not Those of the Social Security Administration ***
