In my previous message (message id <21439.26094466@vaxb.acs.unt.edu> )I said 
that I was getting "read errors", what I ment to say was that I get drive 
"not ready errors", but the problem only occurs while reading, never while 
writing.  Also, I think the drive reads a whole track at a time.
