The only time I've seen pkzip produce larger I'd just like to point out that specifying -ea4 -eb4 only does anything on PKZIP version 0.9x ... the default method on 1.0x is optimal compression (i.e. usually imploding). -ea and -eb are not listed on the help screen for 1.0x and in fact have no effect. So save yourself (and your keyboard) some keystrokes.
