Of course, the original idea >came from Marshall Buhl, and I can't presume to speak for him. I have it on good authority that that's exactly what Marshall meant. If DOS comes standard with Windows, then more people will write software to support it. Keep in mind that I mean a GOOD version of Windows - not that garbage they've been selling for the last year or so. Still waiting for version 3. You may not remember the caveat I put at the end of my original follow-up, but I said I wanted all those things IF it did'nt cost more money or base RAM. As far as disk storage goes, what can be worse than Unix? The current version of Windows doesn't eat up more than a few MB. I'm probably wrong, but I guess that most of the people who will spend the money on DOS upgrades also can afford a decent hard disk. Anyway, Stephen, I would want it to be like the Shell that comes with DOS 4 - an option at install time. Marshall PS. I'm going on a two week brain wipe at the end of the week, so you folks will have one fewer overly-opinionated netter to deal with. If I'm successful, I probably won't even remember the net when I get back. PPS. I hope the original poster is taking good notes - I'd like a copy of the new "DOS Requirements Document" when I get back. -- Marshall L.
