Message-ID: <628@massey.ac.nz> Date: 29 Mar 90 00:17:01 GMT Organization: Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand Lines: 34 X-Reader: NETNEWS/PC Version 2.1 I have recently obtained Borland's PARADOX 3.0, however I am having trouble getting it to work the way I want. We are running the Sun Microsystems PC-NFS product v 3.0.1. Initially my problem was that I installed PARADOX onto a network drive, but I installed it as a single user rather than network version. Everytime I attempted to run it it complained that the location for PARADOX.NET had not been specified. Foiled... Next I installed it as a network version, I specified that the network type was 7 (Other) and that the PARADOX.NET file was on my H:\ drive. PARADOX was installed on my K:\ drive to which I have read/write rights. It now seems to work OK. Next I changed K:\ so it was read-only as we have bought 6 lan packs and according to the manual the PARADOX Directory can be Read only. Now when I start up PARADOX it says "Loading...", "User 1 of 31..." and then seems to give up. The PC-NFS activity BLIP flickers about every 1/2-1 sec. but no further progress is made. Reboot time... Has anyone successfully installed PARADOX on a PC-NFS based network? And if you have what was needed to get it to work? I know PC-NFS is not one of the supported networks but we have had reasonable success with many other network applications so I thought it was worth trying. Any hints would be appreciated.... -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Glen Eustace, Software Manager, Computer Centre, Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand.
