Farallon's receiving patents to PhoneNet technology. Apparently, these ARE the same people who came up with the original article I referred to. My humble apologies to those people, and thanx to those who sent me mail to set me straight. I can't be all forgiving, though. I still think it would be A Good Thing if Farallon left PhoneNET style connectors as an open standard. Better yet, I'd like to see Apple make the concept of network even more a part of the Mac through standard hardware built into as many Macs as possible. I think it would be worthwhile to have EtherNet built into the system boards of least new Mac II class machines. IMHO, it's a better idea than built in video, which limits you to a couple possibilities for monitors (where you want the MOST seletion) whereas ethernet, if done well, isn't such a personal choice for it's users.
