A lot of GNU stuff is available via anonymous ftp from apple.com. You can get the full source version from apple.com and compile it and install it yourself. I've done it and it worked for the most part (crashes when trying to suspend). You can also get a working version of GNU emacs w/o source code from alleyn.stanford.edu.
