Are prescribed burns being done much in your area? I just read the book
Prescribed Burning (U California Press) and am looking at the advisability
of doing a followup burn myself on an area of 15-20' conifers that was
just cleaned out nicely by the 1987 Mendocino N.Forest fires here.

I proofread for Whole Earth Review and Catalog, so come across the kind
of writing you're interested in fairly often!
