If neural nets are indeed no more effective under any circumstances than are more conventional methods, many of us could save ourselves a lot of trouble. This is a serious request. Many people feel as Ted does, and I think the argument deserves more than just a "none". I have just begun looking at this area, and am at present inclined to believe that neural nets are different in some way, although I am not sure just how. With time, I expect I will make my mind up on the subject.
