US West is replacing DTMF coin phones with dial-type coin phones in certain neighborhoods that have a lot drug-dealing activity. Why? The dial-type phones prevent the use of paging systems (i.e. can't punch in the call back phone number). Details are sketchy since I didn't hear the whole report. Sounds a bit far-fetched to me. Also, I was surprised that US West had any dial coin phones left! Did anyone else hear this report? Allyn Lai allyn@cup.portal.com
