In there some of our machines are listed as 128... hostname and some as 128... hostname hostname.cs.byu.edu The machines I can mail to are the ones that have the hostname.cs.byu.edu entries in the /etc/hosts file. So now my question is, why is sendmail doing all the bind queries when in the end it only relies on the information in the hosts file? Did I miss a compile switch or something to compile sendmail to use the resolver routines? I thought this was the default for 4.3BSD. Thanks again for any help or suggestions. Cary cary@cs.byu.edu
