The only phone lines we have in the building are digital and so a standard modem can't be just plugged in. We have dialout modems on the phone switch and I have an adaptor box that allows the RS-232 from the machine to talk to the modem. The only problem is that to get the phone switch to connect a modem to the line I must send a long break on the line. A "BREAK" in the chat script only gives a 1 second break. Is there any way to send a long break (about 3 seconds)? We are running Apollo Domain/IX 10.2 (BSD 4.2) with HDB UUCP. --GaryM -- Lockheed, Houston, Texas UUCP: {texbell|uunet}!sugar!garym Space Station Freedom Project Phone: +1-713-283-5195
