The RuggedWriter (HP2235) did not replace the HP293x series. Both the 2932 and 2934 are still made. The RuggedWriter is a low-end supplement to HP's printer line. The 2631A came standard with an 8-bit differential. This looks like a standard 25 pin connector, but was designed to work in an Multi-drop mode. If there are no options on the printer, scrap it... It isn't worth the trouble. The RS-232-C minimum interface was option 040 this should be listed on the back of the printer near the power cable. Option 052 is the extended serial interface. It is doubtful that HP would be able to provide any manuals on the printer. It was obsoleted March 1st 1981, and the support from HP dropped in May '86. The printer is a good workhorse, just extremely slow. 2631A Op's manual P/N:02631-90901 Programmers 02631-90903 Service 02631-90910 Reference 02631-90905 Extended Serial 02639-90902 Parts/Diagrams 02631-90913
