Actually, it is 'magneto-optical', the information is hold magnetic as with usual hard disks. But the writing and reading has to be done with some assistance of a laser beam to focus on smaller parts of the disk. We are running several boxes with our Sun and Dec machines. Cost is about 8000,- DM (about $4500) for the drive. The disks are 600,- DM (about $350).
