Working for an Amiga dealer, we had been using terminal carrier pins, which are individual pin sockets on a removable carrier, but these are much more time consuming to install. A few months back I called several places in the Computer Shopper, and most people didn't even know what a ZIP chip was ( you mean SIP?...) let alone ZIP sockets ( even if they sold the chips!).
