All the powers that be at NCSA have said good luck...sorry we can't help but feel free to work on it so I've decided sure, why not? I'm only looking at the HDF code right now. This stuff only reads in the HDF files so you can use it in your own program. I haven't attempted to actually get the ImageTool source yet. My C is more than a little rusty...so I intend to use this as an opportunity to bone up a little. If you are a bit impatient then you might grap the source yourself from zaphod.ncsa.uiuc.edu (128.174.20.50). The HDF library is the key to writing any HDF2IFF converters since it handles the HDF input for you. Actually...those that were interested (and conversant with C) probably shouldn't bother waiting for me to finish as I'm going to be busy with normal work and won't be able to devote much time to this (I was planning on spending my after work hours on this but I'm taking a class too *my brain hurts*). Well thats the current status. Thanks to all who responded with mail on this!
