As this is my only drive for my XL, it's a Bad Thing. The controller is fine. I have been loading things (ie. Zybex) by stealing a drive mechanism from the TRS Mod I long enough to load something. Today I checked the drive and it seems that it is not stepping backward properly. Using a logic probe, it seems like the back-step signals are being sent, but they don't always work. As it happens, I DID see it seek in reverse a couple times, so this is a some-time problem. As it is, the XF551 is a pile of junk right now. I'd really like to be able to fix this drive. Is there a case history of this with the Mitsumis? Might it be a dead driver IC suppling inadequate step singals? Any suggestions would be _most_ appreciated.
