The grmd receives requests from these client programs, processes the requests, and returns results to the clients. The resources managed by the grmd include allocation of objects from a shared memory segment and from display frame buffer offscreen memory. Grmd is invoked automatically by the X Window System, Starbase processes, and HP Windows/9000 processes. When invoked the grmd creates a shared memory segment and a semaphore during its initialization. The grmd is installed to run as user daemon so that it may reliably remove the semaphore. The grmd communicates with its clients via a UNIX domain socket. The grmd creates the socket in the directory /usr/spool/sockets. FILES /usr/spool/sockets directory created to contain the grmd and other UNIX domain sockets DEPENDENCIES Implemented on the Series 300 and 800 only.
