Here are the answers. The Maxtor 1140xt is closest on an at bus to a type 9 drive. It has 15 heads and 918 cylinders. 17 secs It is an MFM drive and the manufacturer does NOT recommend it be used on RLL. But I have been running one under rll for about 2 years now. Maxtor tech support phone no is 1-408-432-1700. I have also heard of formating these drives to 1200+ cylinders. Depends how often you back up I guess.
