I noticed the same annoying whine when I looked at a T1200HB in a store a while ago, and later asked about the whine when I talked to a Toshiba customer service person. He said that if a display whines, it is defective; the display should be silent. I have since seen T1200HB's that are indeed silent. Since you _recently_ purchased yours, call Toshiba and see if you get the same answer I got, and if so, you might want to have them fix it. Lyle D.
