Subject: United 2.0 Prefs file from Hell!!!

I used United 2.0 once and when I deleted it I went later to my system folder and found a prefs file for it in a Preferences folder.
Well when I tried to delete the file I got this message saying that I did not have the priviledges to delete it.
I have tried everything from using a non-Finder deletion to changing the name and File Type and Creator to changing the Bits for the file and changing the actual data inside the file. Everything works fine until I try to throw it away and I
get a system error. Could somebody please help me so that I can rid myself of this pest?
