It was formatted and partitioned with Silverlining 5.18. The system: System: Mac IIx, 5Mb RAM, LaCie 105Mb HD, System 6.0.4, Finder 6.1.4, Multifinder 6.1b7, millions of inits (init cdev 3.0, Vaccine v1, GateKeeper Aid, AntiToxin INIT, Sound Master, Color Arrow, Color Finder, Dimmer, Finder Sounds, IconWrap 1.2, Logout 1.0, Master Strokes, Mouse2, OnCue, Pop-Keys, Rear Window MF, Scroll Limit, SCSI, Smooth Clock, Suitcase II 1.2.6, SuperClock 3.1, SuperVideo, WindowList, Boomerang 2.0, DeskPict, Randomizer, SUM Shield INIT). I program on this machine, and so I get some really interesting system crashes. I've also rebooted it numerous times with the programmer's switch, and I've powered it down with the rear switch directly a few times. I have never EVER had any difficulty with the SilverLining software. The drive always reboots like a champ. I do think it's some of the greatest software since SlicedBread (4.11 :-)). HOWEVER, their documentation does mention that certain features aren't guaranteed to work with non-LaCie drives. If I were you, I'd give them a call, and ask for tech support. They've always been very friendly to me, but I'm always friendly to them. Ask them what, if any, problems are likely to arise if you use the software with a non-LaCie drive. --Mike
