I have an SE with a hard disk that is LOUD. When I choose "ShutDown" in finder, it shows the restart dialog, the fan runs, but it powers down the hard disk, under software control. What I want is: 1.) Has anyone written software to turn off the hard disk on the SE if it is idle for a certain period of time, and turn it back on at the next use (should be similar to Apple supplied software for the portable.) 2.) Could someone please send me the details on how the System powers down the hard disk so I can write my INIT myself? (Just tell me that and I can take care of the rest of it.) -- -- David Phillip Oster - Note new address. Old one has gone Bye Bye. -- oster@well.sf.ca.us = {backbone}!well!oster
