My approach was to throw away the supplied /usr/lib/sendmail, replace
it with BSD sendmail (after patching to get the load average correctly),
toss /usr/ucb/mail and replace it with BSD mail/Mail, after patching it
to understand the different date format on From_ lines that /bin/mail
uses (it's different than BSD /bin/mail; one has seconds in the date,
the other doesn't).

I can send patches to anyone that's interested.
