I have seen similar problems on one of our SparcStations that was traced to a bad SIMM memory module. For some unknown reason the memory error is not trapped and reported as a memory problem, violating in the process, Wolfgang's Principle of Least Astonishment! Good Luck, lewie wolfgang@nosc.mil
