The *official* program for handling indexes is makeindex by Pehong Chen and 
Leslie Lamport. The current implementation is in C (there will someday be a
WEB implemenation). It may be FTP'd from ymir.claremont.edu in the directory
[anonymous.tex.utilities.makeindex]
