I wish to thank everybody for all of the help they have provided.
Chip Rosenthal (chip@chinacat.unicom.com) won the "Quickest with a patch"
contest.  After i applied patches 41-44 and Chips' patches, rn compiled,
as if by magic.

Apparently many people are working on this problem.  Chip has submitted
a patch kit to the elm co-ordinator, and Ronald Khoo ( ronald@robobar.co.uk )
has also debugged rn extensively and Is also submitting patches to the 
coordinator.  rn is a very nice reader when used on the console. :-)
