Allowing users to have their own .rhosts files has proven to be a major weakness in computer security, allowing viruses and the like to hop between machines very rapidly. Is there a nice authentication package which would be available for rsh under the X Window System? When a user on a remote workstation attempts to rsh into the multiprocessor I would like a "password widget" to appear so that the user must type his password to authenticate himself before the rsh launch of xterm is allowed to proceed. Is anything like this available? brooks@maddog.llnl.gov, brooks@maddog.uucp
