I'd like to just use XDM all the time, but one thing I've noticed (and dislike intently) is that console messages will still show up on the console when XDM is waiting for a user login. After a user logs in, there is no problem as long as s/he is running one xterm with a -C or an xconsole. Has anyone come up with a standard or intelligent way of placing a small second window to handle console messages somewhere on the screen when XDM is waiting for login? Are there better ideas than doing even that? Paul -- .. here I am in 53 B.C. and all I want is a dill pickle!!
