The ZIP's I installed in my Amiga 3000 were also missing a pin in the
middle. They worked fine - even plugged one in backwards and powered
up - no problem! (phewww) I don't have the pinouts, but I suspect the
missing pin is designed to break the power connection to the chip when
plugged in the wrong way. Are you sure you original ZIPs aren't missing
a pin? Pull one out carefully and find out.
