It sounds like you may be setting up the drive with too many sectors per track. When that happens you'll get exactly what you're expereincing. I first noted the problem when my exacutables in my C directory wouldn't work. I remember looking at my 'dir' command with newzap and finding a part of my resume' tacked onto it!
