Message-ID: <3330@ssc-vax.UUCP> Date: 30 Apr 90 23:21:50 GMT Organization: Boeing Aerospace & Electronics, Seattle WA Lines: 24 Hi kids, I was going to include this gripe in my previous posting, but didn't find it appropriate for comp.laser-printers... For no aparent reason, the parent /usr/lib/lpd doesn't start child processes when print jobs arrive. It just sits and let's them stack up until we: - /etc/lpc stop p391g (or whatever queue it is) - ps ax ... find the PID for /usr/lib/lpd - kill -9 PID for lpd - restart /usr/lib/lpd - /etc/lpc start p391g (or whatever queue it is) Zumtymes it werks, zumtyme it nowerk. Is this simply a poor implementation of the Berkely spooler, or is it a problem with DomainIX? Thanx folks... -- Ray E.
