The worst case is drawing non null lines on the screen. I used the program xgc on an Apollo dn3500 and on a Sun 3/80. Both systems with 8 megabytes of memory, both systems using the same processor. I ran X11R4 from MIT. On the Apollo dn3500, sr10.2, it took 39 seconds to draw 600 lines of width 1 (but 0.4 sec for a width of 0). On SUN it took only 6.74 sec. ! The Apollo is almost 7 times slower than the SUN ! If the lines got a zero size, the speed is pretty close. Someone knows why the Apollo graphic portion of X is so badly implemented.
