There's already a program on the market that does a complete catalog of a HD
and it's public domain.  It's been out a while and it does work.  It's called
Master Cat and was written by David Sparks in 1986.  It's been revised so that
the file can be imported into Appleworks which is what I do.  There are 12
fields for each file.
